Holy smokes SUMMER 2016 is rapidly winding down. I don't know about you, but there is something about attending outdoor concerts in the summer. Is it the music and the artists? The cold drinks and summer tacos? Or the sweat running down your body as the sun slowly settles and the air begins (hopefully) to cool slightly and brush across your face? Perhaps it's the fashion. My bet is the combination of adulting mixed with the sense of summer vacation relaxation.
This summer I've been lucky enough to see a couple of concerts as well as attend a bit of the Panorama Music + Food + Technology Festival that was on Randall's Island a couple weeks back in New York City. Shockingly, this was my first true music festival. *gasp* I know, ridiculous.
This festival was really fun, a great all around fun-fest. Aside from the 3 stages and 20+ musical artists performing each day (it was a 3-day festival), there was also an insane amount of food vendors. Not only was the food delish and vast in selection, but there was also an array of food for different dietary restrictions and preferences. Mexican? Ok! Burgers? Yum! Asian? Ice cream? Popsicles? Fried chicken? YES. So many options!
Some of my favorite vendors I tried was Loosie Rouge with a bangin' collab with Katz's Deli on a pastrami po' boy, the popsicles at Matcha Bar that were a collab with by Chloe's popsicles (love Matcha Bar, best matcha in NYC), and the tacos from The Black Ant + Temerario collab. For reals could have just spent the entire three days just walking around and eating going vender to vender.
In addition to the bangin' food and pleasing music, there was also several awesome interactive spaces. HP (Hewlett-Packard) had audio/video installations from NYC artists that were manipulated in real time by the user. Google had a space with a live spray paint artist that was cool as well as an emotion related music playlist you could individualize. The roof also had a great view of the festival (& free popsicles and ice cream!) and they projected images taken at the festival as well as music videos. There was so much happening that I definitely couldn't see and experience it all (let alone taste most of it!)
The playlist for this month is very closely inspired by the Panorama Festival.
